Introduction

The White Hart Hotel is centrally located, making it the perfect base for business trips to Cornwall or for exploring the County’s many attractions and gardens such as The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Lanhydrock House and The Eden Project. Nearby is St Austell Brewery’s Visitor Centre and Charlestown Harbour home of the Tall Ships and Square Riggers. Super beaches such as Carlyon Bay and Pentewan, yachting and fishing harbour’s at Fowey, Mevagissey and Gorran Haven and castles at Caerhays and Lostwithiel all combine to make this part of Cornwall the perfect all year round holiday destination.

Pre-Arrival
• The White Hart Hotel is in St Austell town centre and is within a 30 minutes drive from Truro, Newquay and many of Cornwall’s main towns and attractions. This makes it an ideal base from which to visit the whole of Cornwall.
• By Road Take the main A30 towards Bodmin, then pick up and follow the signs to St Austell. The hotel is located in the town centre with a gated residents’ car park on East Hill.
• By Rail St Austell Mainline Railway and Bus Station is a three minute walk from the hotel.
• By Air Newquay Airport is 15 miles away and is served by many UK airports.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
• The hotel is located in the town centre with a gated residents’ car park on East Hill.
• The Drop-off point is situated at the front Entrance of the Hotel.
• A Bell is provided to alert staff to bring out the access ramp for all wheel chair users.

Main Entrance, Reception & Ticketing Area
• Music can be turned down on request. Please ask any member of staff who will be happy to help.
• A DDA approved Pen; Pad & Magnifying Glass is available on request from the Reception. Also a copy of the DDA Handbook is kept at Reception again available on request.
• Opening Times ~ 7.30am ~ 11.00pm
• Reception Desk has adequate lighting for all our guests convenience.
• Good, wide, clear access to the Reception Desk. Although there isn’t a lowered section within the Desk all Staff will be happy to assist Guests.
• Guide and Service Dogs are allowed at all times.
• Dogs are allowed but not in the Restaurant areas.

Public Areas – Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc
• There are three standard size steps, not steep, leading up to the Restaurant Area.
• A access ramp can be provided when requested to the Restaurant Area.
Public Areas – Sitting room, lounges, lobbies etc
• On the ground floor residents and non-residents enjoy the popular bar, coffee lounge.
• There is good, clear, wide access to the bar, coffee lounge.

• The Toilets are also situated on the same floor. Please see next section on WC’s.

Public WCs
• The WC’s can be found at the rear of the property. There is a slight slope down to the Disabled WC & assistance can be requested from any member of Staff.
• The Disabled WC is Unisex.
• Emergency pull cord for staff response is provided.
• The access to the WC is 735mm wide with a sliding door and can be locked.

Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar & Bar area, Take Away & Cafe
• Good, clear, wide access in the Bar / Coffee Lounge areas.
• Special arrangements can be made in advance for making more room in the Restaurant area if needed.
• The White Hart Hotel and Walter Hicks restaurant serves stylish pub food, washed down with award winning St Austell Brewery Ales and a wide selection of wines from the Walter Hicks wine list.
• We are proud to use locally caught fish, meat reared in Cornwall and all Cornish vegetables and dairy produce.
• Children are welcome in our restaurant and high chairs are available upon request.
• If you have any special requests or dietary requirements please let us know and the chef and the catering team will do all they can to accommodate them.
• We can provide a Braille menus or large font menus on request.
• Thick handled cutlery is available on request.
• Assistance is available in the Bar & Restaurant areas. There is Waitress service provided in both areas.
• Three steps up to the Restaurant ~ wheel chair ramp is available on request.

  • Breakfast – 7.30am to 9.30am
  • Teas, coffees and snacks – 9.30am to 12.00 noon
  • Lunch – 12.00 to 2.30pm
  • Teas, coffees and snacks – 2.30pm to 5.30pm
  • Evening meal – 5.30pm to 9.00pm

Outdoor Facilities
• Recently refurbished patio area with picnic style tables. Furniture is not easily moved. Well lit & all on one flat level. Flat access via gate and pavement. Access from Hotel either down steep old steps or out along the pavement and around the side of the building. This area is designated for smokers.
Conference & Meeting Rooms, Banqueting
• The White Hart Hotel is a great place to hold a business meeting or conference. Centrally located in the business hub of the town, the elegant and spacious Barnes Room is ideal for conferences, meetings and private functions.
• Whilst the Barnes Room is on the ground floor, there are 2 or 3 steps up to the room with no wheel chair ramp access however Staff will assistant if necessary on request.

Bedrooms & Sleeping Areas
• There is no wheel chair access to any of the sleeping accommodation owing to the age and design of the property.
• DeafGard available on request at reception ~ DeafGard placed under pillow vibrates and alerts deaf and hard of hearing persons to fire emergency high intensity flashing strobe provides additional safeguard of visual emergency warning, additional audible warning for hearing companion. DeafGard offers clock and alarm clock facility DeafGard ensures full compliance with DDA DeafGard is perfect for hotels and other accommodation facilities presenting relevant risk to deaf people.
